The IFSC route is the only formal GIC registration regime in India. This guide covers what IFSCA's 2025 regulations require, who the register shows has actually registered, and where the IFSC route differs from a standard private limited company in Bengaluru or Hyderabad. Sources are cited inline and dated.
What it means
Most location comparisons treat GIFT City as one more city. It is a different legal regime, and the difference decides things a city comparison cannot see.

How we choose what appears on Pulse
Our source register, the rules every card follows, what we link but never reproduce, and why six of the seven major Indian business publishers do not appear as feeds. Published because the two comparable platforms publish neither a methodology nor a paid-placement policy.
IFSCA (Global In-House Centres) Regulations, 2025 are in force
IFSCA's Global In-House Centres Regulations 2025 govern GIC registration in GIFT City IFSC, replacing the repealed 2020 regulations. The authority publishes the regulations, related circulars and an FAQ.
India entry primer: the decisions in the order they constrain each other
What has to be decided before a capability centre in India can open, in dependency order, with each step marked as required by law, usual practice or a judgement call.
An operating guide for the period after the Indian entity exists and the first hires are made: the statutory clocks that start at incorporation or at a headcount threshold, and the non-legal things that most often go wrong.
Why India: what the published figures say about building a capability centre here
The case for India as a location for a Global Capability Centre, stated only where a published source supports it: the existing GCC base, the technology workforce and graduate pipeline, office supply, the national time reference and policy. Every figure carries its source and the date it was true.
GCC Pulse publishes when something actually changes, not on a schedule. The daily digest names what was raised in your workspace since the last one and links straight to it — one message a day, and none at all on a quiet day.

What it means: If GIFT City is on your location shortlist, this is the regime you register under. It is the only formal GIC registration framework in India, and it is a regulator's own text — not analyst commentary.

IFSCA publishes its register of entities registered in IFSC as GICs
IFSCA maintains a public List of Registered Entities in IFSC as GICs, linked from its Global In-House Centres page. The list carries a last-updated date of 18 June 2025.
What it means: A regulator's own register of who has actually set up, as distinct from who announced an intention to. No other public GCC dataset in India has that provenance.
